Submitting a Sitemap to Google

Have you recently added custom Titles and keyword alt text to your Captions field on your Images?

Have you just made your new website LIVE with PhotoFolio and want to make sure Google knows that you switched web hosting providers?

Did you recently move around some image pages inside of a gallery?

You probably want to get those changes to those pages indexed by Google bots as soon as possible, right?

Good News, you're on the right support page

Thanks to some new fields we added to your ADMIN>SEO section, you can now submit a sitemap to Google all by yourself, in order to call on Google to come and index your new content.

You will begin by logging-in to your existing account or by creating a free account at: https://search.google.com/search-console/about

Then follow these 11-Steps we've provided for you, below: 

1.) Find the (+ ADD A PROPERTY) button in the top left and click it.

2.) In the Pop-up window that appears, select the URL PREFIX option on the right side:

(Note: You will need to repeat this process 2 times -- 1 time for the "non-www." domain and then 1 more time for the "www." domain)

Let's begin with the non-www. domain name in the URL Prefix field:

3.) Enter: https://domain.com (replace with your actual public domain name)

4.) Then click the "CONTINUE" button

5.) Next is the VERIFICATION Process - Please use the HTML Download option that Google provides you with.

6.) Download the file to your desktop

7.) In a new browser tab, login to your PhotoFolio admin at: https://domain.com/admin and go to ACCOUNT>SEO setting panel to see the "HTML VERIFICATION" Rectangle where you can click the (+ ADD) button to upload the file from your desktop computer.

Usually, you can locate the HTML Verification file inside of your Downloads folder.

8.) Then go back to Google Search Console and click the VERIFY button and click GO TO PROPERTY

9.) Then in the left-hand menu of the Google Search Console account, locate the Index - Sitemap menu item and select it to open that setting panel.


10.) In the empty field at the end of your domain name, type in the following exactly: sitemap.xml

11.) Now click the "SUBMIT" button to submit the sitemap.

BUT WAIT: Don't forget, you will need to now repeat the steps above for the next web property using the "www." -- Example: https://www.domain.com

(Once you're done, please allow 7-10 business days for Google bots to crawl and index your site pages after submission.)
